Walk an Alpaca

New for 2020!

We are offering walks for up to 3 people. Each person will have the full hour walking the Alpaca, getting to know them and learning about each individual character. All Alpaca’s will need to walk together. They are pack animals and have a close bond. You will be accompanied by a handler who can tell you everything about our resident Alpaca’s, Antonio, Benedict and Sebastian.

Group bookings are available, all enquiries will need to come through to office@amertonfarm.co.uk so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

The Alpaca Picnic

The Alpaca Picnic includes; Sandwich, Crisps, Fruit, a drink (hot or cold) and a piece of cake.

Please make us aware of any dietary requirements at the booking stage.

Description

Our Alpaca’s are harness trained and will be the perfect walking companion. We ask you to be calm with the Alpaca’s, as we wouldn’t want to scare them, would we?

What will happen on the day?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your experience.
You will make your way to Billy’s Farm Barn with your booking confirmation.
You will then make your way to the outside area of Billy’s Farm Barn where the handler will come and meet you and run through Health & Safety.
You will then make your way to the Alpaca Paddock and begin your experience.

We encourage you to take pictures and share them to social media, using the hashtag #AmertonAlpacas.

Please remember, all animals are unpredictable and will need to be treated with care and caution. If we see any of the experience guests treating an animal poorly we will remove you from the site.

You can upgrade to an Alpaca Picnic for an extra £10 per person. The location of the picnic depends on the weather. We have a lovely area in the centre of the farm between paddocks. Sadly the Alpaca will not be able to join you for lunch, due to a special diet.
If the weather is against us you can have your picnic in the farm barn.

Prices are inclusive of any applicable taxes and there are no surcharges whatsoever. Once you have paid, we will not increase the price of your tickets.

Terms & Conditions

All walks must be pre-booked and are available every day of the week and all year round (subject to availability but excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years’ Day).

Children must be over 12 years old to walk an alpaca on their own, although children aged 8 to 12 may accompany the walk providing that each child is accompanied by an adult. PLEASE NOTE this is to comply with our insurance and can’t be varied.

It is important at the time of booking that we know if any of those walking have any health limitations or health issues that we should be aware of. Where possible, we are very happy to modify the walk or distance in a way that accommodates any health concerns. Walking alpacas may not be suitable for all as it involves walking across uneven surfaces and terrain and you need to use both hands to be in control of the alpaca at all times.

Walking an alpaca allows you to walk YOUR VERY OWN ALPACA for the entirety of the walk.

Accompanying a walker entitles you to walk alongside an alpaca walker but not to walk an alpaca yourself.

Alpacas are herd animals so all 3 alpacas must be booked for each walk.
It is possible to accommodate single walkers but only in conjunction with another group so as to always have 3 alpacas walking.

Walking times are 11am – 12noon and 2pm to 3pm0 Monday to Friday. Weekend times are 10am -11am and 12.30 – 1.30.

We need at least 48 hours notice if you cancel a walk as it is unlikely we can fill the places on that walk. If we have less than 48 hours or a “no show”, unfortunately your booking is forfeit.

We are not an “open farm” and can only offer alpaca walks by prior arrangement.

We are a working farm, so please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Clothing should be appropriate for the conditions but please avoid really bright colours or anything that might flap (we will ask you to tuck it in if it does).

Our alpacas are not used to dogs so we have a strict no dog policy on the farm or walk.

Alpacas are like us and won’t be happy to walk in bad weather. If the weather forecast looks bad, we will endeavour to let you know the evening before (via email/text or call – or feel free to contact us) that there is a risk of cancellation. We will make a final decision on the morning of the day in question and again contact you via email/text or call. If we do cancel a walk, we will issue you with an eVoucher and arrange to reschedule.

Your commitment to us

When you confirm your purchase, you are accepting that these terms and conditions form the basis of any contract between Amerton Farm and yourself.

Cancellations

Unfortunately we cannot issue any refunds for cancellations.

Online Booking

Once purchased on-line tickets may not be used in conjunction with any other offer. No ticket may be resold.
Any discounts or offers on-line are available for limited quantities and periods only and shall not be available on bookings made by phone or in person.
Please bring along your booking reference number and/or email print out.
