UPDATE - Apparently it may not be a problem with the landline, but actually with EE mobile (alas was the best signal in the area) which is apparently nationwide.....Sorry but we are currently experiencing some issues with the phone lines here at Amerton Farm - we hope to have it sorted soon
One of our visitors yesterday Lilian Ward from Stone who comes regularly for lunch and is the oldest lady in Staffordshire at 108, with her son.

Excellent day out for all the family. So much to do for the grandchildren, they loved the play barn can’t wait to go back for Halloween and Christmas. The food hall amazingly good value for money, the meat is superb. Finneys tea room is a lovely place to relax and have good meal. Would definitely recommend everyone to go.

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?#amertonfoodhall #freshfruitandveg #barenecessities #healthyliving #pricklypear

Great refurbishment and value for money
three adults and 3 children(2 under 2) spent a lovely afternoon at Amerton, the café is fantastic, great food, great surroundings, great staff - have booked the santa breakfast as this looks such good value , we then moved onto the play barn and farmyard - the children loved both and I have to say it is one of the best play areas I have visited and they certainly didn't want to leave - although a reminder of a promised visit to the cake shop for a treat for after tea helped. A great job with bringing Amerton up to date and such a lovely place to visit - we will certainly be returning on a regular treat day with the grandchildren

This weekend (30th September & 1st October) is the Amerton Railway Diesel-ish Gala. Frequent passenger trains on both days will be interspersed with demonstration freight trains, all pulled by a variety of diesel and petrol-engined locomotives from our “home fleet” and visiting us from the Apedale Valley Light Railway. On Sunday afternoon the newest diesel engine to arrive at Amerton, the large Burton-built Baguley-Drewery “A10” will makes its debut on freight services.

The railway will be open from 10:30am to 6:00pm both days, so visitors can see preparation and disposal of the locomotives. Passenger trains will run from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Normal fares (Adults £2.30, Children (3-16) £1.60 and Concessions £1.60) will apply for single trips, or our good value Day Tickets allowing you to ride as often as you wish will be available at £8 for adults and £4 for children. Accompanied tours of our sheds will also be available, subject to staffing.

As with our Steam Gala, visitors wanting to walk into the fields inside the railway to take photographs or see our “Industrial Railway” operating close-up (there will be a couple of locos shunting on it both days) will be able to do so, but do be aware that the fields are uneven, muddy and wet, so please dress accordingly!

Don’t forget that food and drinks, including meals, are available from our neighbours at Amerton Farm too.

We hope to see you over the weekend for this unusual event at Amerton.

With regards to the Santa letters - this is the request we've had from Santa "to make sure that the elves in the North Pole have plenty of time to make, prepare and wrap the correct presents, we are going to use an elf rocket express to send the children's letters to the post room at the North Pole, as we need to ensure the rocket is not overloaded and that we do include all the letters we are using 2 rockets at differing times 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm - else Stanley the elf at the post room in the North Pole will not be able to catch all the letters
